Flying out of Tauranga I knew there would be a snack on the plane, so I passed my cookie over to Mr P and I had my cup of tea which hit the spot nicely. Perfect start.
Our first stop was Coene's Bar & Eatery on Oriental Parade for lunch, where I had Roasted Cauliflower with Coconut Cream, Cranberries, Chilli and Herbs (with Haloumi) and it was d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! And Mr P had Calamari which was equally as good, plus he helped me finish mine which seems to have become a trend of late. We highly recommend this place!
Next we had an hour's walk around the city to check out where Logan Brown restaurant was. We were headed there for dinner later on Friday evening and wanted to know where we'd park. A quick stop at Countdown for a few beers, snacks and nibbles and we headed to our amazing Bed & Breakfast in Belmont. We love this bed and breakfast, and Marjorie the hostess does an amazing job - there are so many extras you can't count them; she really does think of everything.
A couple of hours relaxing and it was time to glam up for our Logan Brown treat.
And oh boy, what a treat it was. We'd booked for their 5-course tasting menu which was absolutely wonderful. The flavours were exquisite, the service polished and professional and the setting (the old BNZ bank) was just the ticket. It was a gorgeous evening and we'd definitely recommend treating yourself to a meal here.
We managed a few good big walks over the weekend so that helped matters I'm sure.
I think the main thing that really helped was sticking to my, eat when you're hungry, stop when you've had enough strategy. At every meal (except the Logan Brown one - I wasn't handing over any of THAT food to Mr P!), I did exactly that. And of course the stopping part is the most important. Well, so is the other, perhaps equally as important as each other.
Being aware I guess is what makes the biggest difference. Pretty close to 100% of the time I have been super-aware of what I'm eating, my hunger levels and that I need to keep moving.
So, all in all, a successful weekend away eating out the entire weekend!
Until next time,
