As a child I was often bored and I remember my mother saying "You have 300 acres here, how can you be bored?", but I just was.

What I realise now is that it's part of the creative's personality. Moving from one thing to the next, often not finishing things, often getting over them before you really get into them, and now I understand why.

Many creatives are the same, and one of the issues in business, is that I have so many ideas, and that I get bored when I'm doing the same thing over and over. I have learned how to manage it now.

Working hard will go a long way towards the success of your business, and it's necessary, particularly when starting a business. However working too hard is a one way ticket to burn out, and you most certainly do not want to end up going down that road.

When there is so much to be done, finding the time for yourself is hard. Your task list never seems to end, and when you tick one thing off, you tend to add another three items. So how do you know when you're heading towards burn out.

3 Things I Wish I'd Known Before Starting a Business

It's really important to me to communicate what life as a business owner is
really like; not to sugar-coat it, not to make it sound easier than it is, and most definitely not to make out that I do everything right, or even know what I'm doing all of the time.

Every business owner has a lot to learn, and makes a lot of mistakes, whether they admit it or not.

It's hard work. Really hard work. But the rewards are awesome too.

So often I hear of creative people either working for no payment at all, or pricing their goods and services so low they're never going to make any money.

You have to value your worth, your skill and what you have to offer.

Know that not everyone can do what you do, even though it might seem very easy to you. And plenty of people will be happy to pay what it costs to learn from you or to buy your product.

There are some very good reasons why you must NOT work for free, and I'm walking you through those right here.

So, it's all been going very well and I have now lost a total of 10kg since mid-way through 2018. More than anything it's been the easiest way I have ever lost weight.

Last weekend was a little challenging in that we were away for the weekend and at out quite a lot. But, I only came home with 300 grams extra so I was pretty pleased with that... I had some strategies to get through.

Why It's Important to Link Your Business Facebook Page to Your Personal Profile

8/2/2019

This is something many, many people do not do. As a business owner on Facebook one of the best things you can do is link your personal profile to your business page.

Why? So when someone new clicks onto your personal profile, they can immediately see that you have a business. Then, they're likely to click to check it out.

This is a really small but important piece that many people forget to do.

Jump on over to Facebook now and link your page to your personal profile. If you're not sure how, just Google it to find out.

Remember, I'm all about empowering you to find your own answers, because this is the way you really learn to become a self-sufficient independent business owner.

There are many, many blogs, videos, Facebook LIVEs and posts about this topic, but it's one I wanted to cover nonetheless.

I think the biggest thing I have learnt about growing a Facebook following, is the importance of consistency. Without a doubt, being consistent is the most critical thing. If you're not working hard, and being consistent on Facebook to improve your reach, you may as well not be there.

Okay, so what do you need to do?

I Don't Do New Years' Resolutions

Yes, you read that correctly - I've kept to my New Year's resolution for 10 years now (or it could be longer).

With the new year approaching, like many people, I would put great thought into what my New Year's resolution was going to be. And yes, you guessed it, more often than not it would be about diet and exercise.

Each year I would start off on January 1 with a hiss and a roar with some extreme diet and exercise regime that in hindsight I was never going to be able to sustain. And ultimately, a few weeks later, I would fail miserably, and feel terrible about myself and what I could achieve.

Until I came up with a new approach...

Okay, here goes... I'm about to bare my soul!

I've been wanting to lose a bit of weight for a while now, but I've just been too busy to focus on it.

So... over my holiday time of year, I have decided to give it another shot. Now I could have used Christmas as an excuse, because after all, it was only two and a half weeks away, so why not wait until the New Year, right? But that was going to almost four weeks, and by then I could have been close to halfway to my goal.

No more excuses.
